New to the SENCo role... help!

Discussion in 'Special educational needs' started by mrboom, Jul 13, 2011.

  1. Hi all,
Am very new to the role of SENCo, and am reveiwing what we provide for our pupils. I've been told from some sources that we MUST provide up to 15 hours of support for SA+ children, and obviously this funding would come from within school as they receive very little from the LEA. Is this true?
Also, does the school legally have to provide 15 hours of support for pupils who have statements, in addition to what they receive on their statement? For example, if a pupil receives 2.5 hours of funded support as part of his statement from the LEA, should the school then give another 15 hours, bringing the total provision up to 17.5 hours?
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

  2. You need to phone your education authority and they will have the details.
    Good Luck!
