new teacher's job search

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by wkhan, Aug 29, 2011.

  1. hi,
as an undergraduate I wanted to find out how newly qualified PGCE and GTP students are finding the teaching job market in London.

Is it as booming as we are made to believe by the government and training providers or is it quite dry?

What is the potential employment rate for newly qualified?

    Thanks

London is a big place and it depends upon whether you are considering primary or secondary. Opportunities tend to be patchy depending upon the local borough ITT providers- most are based south of the river.Secondary also depends on subjects

  3. I teach in the fringe area just outside London. Good teachers will always be able to find jobs in this area, especially if they start looking at Easter time (assuming they are planning to start in September).
My experience of inner London is that there are often lots of jobs but also lots of people applying.
