It doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid. I've loved the previous ones (especially Bear and Hare, which made me cry repeatedly), but this one left me a bit cold.

I'll leave folk who haven't seen it to do so before I say why I think this is (because spoilers!).

They emailed me it this morning and I felt the same way. It's a bit depressing. Invite the poor ****** for dinner.

Am disappointed as I had read the music was "Half a world away" and as R.E.M. have that as a track I was expecting....

a lovely track and a favourite

This could be the saddest dusk I've ever seen
    Turn to a miracle, high-alive
My mind is racing, as it always will
My hands tired, my heart aches
I'm half a world away here
And I had sworn to go it alone, hold it along
And haul it along and hold it
Go it alone 'n hold it along
    Hold

Oh, this lonely deeps and holy way
Half a world, half a world away
My shoes are gone, my life spent
I've had too much to drink
    I didn't think, I didn't think of you
    I guess that's all I needed
To go it alone and hold it along
And haul it along and hold it
Go it alone 'n hold it along
    Hold

Oh, this lonely world is wasted
    Pathetic eyes, high-alive
Blind eye that turns to see
The storm it came up strong
It shook the trees and blew away our fear
    I couldn't leave it here
To go it alone, hold it along
Haul it along and hold it
Go it alone hold it along
    Hold

Go it alone and hold it along
Haul it along 'n hold it
    Blackbirds, backwards, forwards and fall
    Hold

Oh, this could be the saddest dusk I've ever seen
    Turn to a miracle, high-alive
My mind is racing, as it always will
My hands tired, my heart aches
I'm half a world away to go

If it raises money for Age UK, what's not to like?

I quite like the cover versions they use on their ads.

You probably have to be on the right frame of mind for those kind of things but I think you are right, it's not that good. Again, no spoilers for those who have not seen it.

I really like their cover versions and I quite like this one. But the film itself just doesn't work. Last year we found out that, obviously, the kid didn't have a real penguin. Bear and Hare were animated, so we believe the unbelievable. This one - nah, can't suspend me disbelief. I needed a 'reality' denouement.

Don't like the screechy cover version - they should have kept the Oasis one.

It's too sad. You can view it from several angles. Clever, but sad - especially at this time of year.

I hated every second of it. What's the message in your opinion? My thoughts were with the kids whose parents have to do their Christmas shopping in Poundland, having to watch this smug s.hit and find out at too early an age they're destined for failure.

As Dear Alfred said "John Lewis, my ****." Just because he could. I aren't going for Brownie points here but I had to take a homeless person for a pizza today because he was crying in the rain. "I'm really cold" he said, and although it isn't, maybe he had an undiagnosed thyroid disorder like I did for ages or was just wet from the rain. Couldn't give him a bed because I've got all the in-laws over.

You aren't destined for failure because you realise or don't realise that your parents can't buy you the same stuff as other parents can. Honest.
