New Job........ Graduation

Discussion in 'Workplace dilemmas' started by nikkihowell37, Jul 21, 2019.

  1. Hi all,
I have been offered a job in a pre-school which is what I have wanted to do since high school (which was a few years ago now). It starts in September, however my graduation ceremony falls on one of the days I will be working. Is it ok to approach the head in September to ask to go to it? I have juggled family etc for 4 years and do not want to miss the ceremony.

    Thanks for any advice

Yep! Most leave of absence policies specify that heads can give you the day off for things like this. It's quite common for people to take a day off to graduate.

Just approach them. There will be a form to fill out and they will most likely approve it. Congratulations and enjoy your graduation x

You could even send an email before September and ask if the graduation is near the start of term.

    Way better to ask now.
