New Headship

Discussion in 'Headteachers' started by Dixie1234, Jun 18, 2011.

  1. Hi all

I'm starting a first Headship in September and am about to go into
school to meet the staff as a whole and SMT one-to-one over the next few
    days.

One of my main priorities of course is to get to know the staff and
their ideas/feelings, establish a positive base to work from and get to know the school itself i.e. strengths/areas for development.

I wonder if anyone has any specific useful experience or suggestions
they can share when starting a new Headship, especially with how to approach
    one-to-one discussions with SMT.

    All ideas appreciated.

  3. Don't forget the Chair of Governors. Then can, indeed should, be a considerable support to you and might tell you things that your new SMT would not say.
Being CoG with a new Head was my most professionally rewarding experience in 27 years of being a governor.[IMG]
