New forum for discussion at OccupyLSX

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by mrmistry, Dec 9, 2011.

  1. OccupyLSX have just set up a new working group specifically looking at the systems and models concerning education. The Education Working Group will be working collaboratively with Tent City University and other working groups within other occupations.

The group aims to discuss the challenges that our public sector faces in the current political and economic climate. The coalition government?s cuts pose a fundamental threat to our public sectors and these cuts will disproportionately affect education for children and adults alike.

Although some of the discussions will centre on teaching and learning, the nature of the topic reaches into every aspect of our society. The current climate of cuts, ?austerity? and privatisation are political ideologies that need to be challenged. Early years education, primary education, secondary education, higher education, postgraduate education, home and private education, have and will continue to be affected by the drastic changes announced by the coalition government.

This group is inclusive and would encourage any future meetings to accommodate more groups that are involved in education. Furthermore, we welcome anyone who has an interest and, most importantly, any children, teenagers and young adults that would like to participate.

    Please share this information.
Any questions or comments can be addressed via educationwglsx@gmail.com
The discussion will begin on Saturday at 11am at TCU, OccupyLSX, 10th December 2011.
