So for the first time in a long time (33 years) I'm going ice skating...

I'm so doing my ankles in on this. So what new experiences have you had recently?

For the first time in 20 years, the most unbearable back pain. Five days of Diazepam seemed to fix it, but when I 'came down' oh my God, it was ten times worse! Am now seeing an osteopath (at £50 a pop) and he is hopeful that the pain will subside. I have a repeat prescription for Diazepam but will do my best to resist!

Pleasure or pain, what shall I post? Definitely the pleasure, tomorrow my wife and myself celebrate 25 years of marriage. This will be a new experience. We have both been married before, none of which worked out.
We will have a bottle of wine (no rum!), just our two selves, and Jesus.

We went canoeing this morning-nothing pro, just family mess around style- and I was amazed at how big the geese look when you are right next to them on their level, and they make little chuntering noises which you don't otherwise hear, but I am never going again because it would be warmer standing with your bare arrus in the fridge for half an hour.

Only fell over ten fifteen times. Managed three circuits.

    Little rest.

Love Ice Skating - got good at it when I lived in Canada

I'm not working on a Sunday - a bit of a rarity of late

I'm no expert, but surely ice skating is marginally more difficult if you are also simultaneously posting about it on your device?

I'm not posting while on the ice!

Have to have little breaks because I'm sweating like crazy. This is tiring.

Doesn't help when someone appears to deliberately knock you flat out... elbow and wrist are ruddy sore

I went to one of those ‘Paint Your Own Pottery’ places fhe other day and had a wonderful time being quietly creative. Although I paint and draw quite a bit, I haven’t done anything involving ceramics since I was at school, and loved the feeling of being artistically creative to make something which is going to be used rather than merely decorative.

I’m already planning my next trip!

We stayed at son2s house where he lives with his partner. He's been there about a year and we'd never stayed before. We also got taken out for dinner at a private members club. It meant a lot to us to be invited.

Quit while you're ahead! (You'll feel it tomorrow!)

My new experience: swimming in the outdoor pool at the gym in December in the UK - that's a first for me. OK, it is heated (sort of). Very energising!

Bark tanning ox intestines, using haggis casings and sweet chestnut bark. Every year I go on a prehistoric skills course to keep my work authentic and this year was hide and gut tanning. It's like retro CPD. You find out about the newest silicon chip technology and I find out about the oldest chipped silicon technology. :)
