negotiating pay to get a job as too expensive??????

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by rebeccafound, Jan 31, 2012.

  1. Hi Anyone got a job on a lowerpay scale than what they are worth?? Im on UPS1, and realise I will be up against cheaper, but less experienced teachers. Can you go down the payscale???

Nope, sorry. UPS is what you are and UPS is what you will get!

While I would advise against deceit I don't see any school bothering to check.... I myself had great difficulty when asked to 'prove' I passed threshold as the school I passed it in had destroyed all paperwork and it took a while to sort out. If I was wanted to negotiate down salary this could have been to my advantage I suppose.... The other angle of course is that a school will query why, after 'x' number of years service you have not progressed up scale....
