Help! I urgently need these tests ! I've replied to a couple of threads on the forum but had no response - I think I'm not doing something right technically! I need these tests, particularly the WRIT and/or the Wrat4. Doing CCET and Level 7! Can anyone help? Interested in any other tests that might be suitable Gort etc... Suggestions welcome but ready to buy now! Thanks!

We use WRAT4 at my school. Have you checked out the Pearson's website?

Hi thanks KBeck - we don't have this test at work and it's expensive! I've just bought it new (nearly £300!) but am now looking for a second hand Towre2 , possible a GORT and a WRIT. Have decided not to bother with the CTOPP. I've seen them here occasionally and I just can't afford any more new but need them for my course and to get further experience testing and assessing. Thanks for replying at all tho - it's nice to know there are people out there!

Why do you have to get all these US tests for the CCET? [is it Dyslexia Action, or Real Training?]

RAN/RAS is much cheaper than CTOPP2, and better if you only need the rapid naming.
Hodder single word reading and spelling are better than WRAT4, imho, and UK standardised.
You could use the YARC instead of the GORT, or even cheaper the Access Reading Test.
You may find somebody getting rid of a WRIT - it's almost out of date.

How do you make CCET into a level 7? it's a level 5 qualification.

Hi there and thank you for the reply. I am doing BOTH - finishing CCET and starting Level 7 - fully aware that one is level 5 and one is level 7. I want to challenge myself and get experience /practice /work at different age levels and as I work in primary we don't have all tests . Good point about the WRIT and one I didn't know so that would explain why it's out of stock in most places if it's almost out of date. I don't know the Access Reading Test but will check it out too. I think I'm ok on achievement tests but desperately need a CHEAP!!! ABILITY test? Any suggestions would be most gratefully received. You clearly k ow all about this stuff.[/QUOTE]

Just a thought - do you have to own these tests yourself, or could you perhaps borrow one at a time from a school which has the tests?
Do you know how frequently you might have to use a particular test for the purpose of the CCET or whichever qualification is following on from that?
If you could persuade a school that it would definitely be returned, they might let you have a test over the half term week. That would be enough time to do 2 or 3 kids with the WRIT, say.

Re ability tests, you might still be able to buy the WRIT new, but it was standardised in 2000. It would be better to go for the Ravens matrices & accompanying vocab tests, in my view, or (if you don't mind a US standardised test) the KBIT. For an extra thirty quid you'd get something with a life.

Hi, I have just started at a local school overseas and there is no provision for SEN. I used to work in an ASD specialist college in the UK but some of this is new to me. I have a very small budget so can you advise which of these items are absolutely essential? Thanks

I have now sold the CTOPP but have the WRIT which is the complete set only used 3 times for £180.00. The TOMAL -2 examiners manual for £55, the Record Booklets for £45 and the Profile/Summary forms for £35.
I also have the DRA Manual for £ 40. The Record Sheet A for £ 10, Record sheet B for £10 and the Reading Booklet for £30.

All are in excellent condition as only used for one Dyslexia Assessment and practice whilst I was doing the Level 7 OCR SpLD course.

Will consider offers but I do think they are priced fairly

    Hi Marie,

Do you still have the Tomal 2? If so, would you accept £110 please? I'm studying at the moment and it's turning into a big outlay.

    Thanks for considering this.
