Not until 2021: freedom of movement continues throughout the transition.

That's the message we keep sending. It keeps getting ignored.

I'm surprised the boats are not travelling in the opposite direction.

Give it a few more months.

Just think - many of those migrants escaping from a country with inept and despotic rulers - now trying to reach another.

Well at least there'll be plenty of jobs for them to do now that the fruit and veg pickers didn't come, and with all those foreign workers who have been here for decades having to go back to their own countries because they didn't get their British citizenship sorted ...

That's the point - there will be no jobs either.

Britain has fame for providing people with the basics for life -housing, food and job opportunities for those willing to work. It even provides these things for those who are only willing to slide from their bed to the sofa pausing only to snatch last night's cold pizza and a high energy drink.

Illegal immigrants and non EU nationals have freedom of movement? Havent we got something called 'Border Force' already to deal with them?

Illegal immigrants are ignoring our messages? Maybe we need to send a different message to them.

What would the Navy actually do? There are already quite a number of boats patrolling the Channel, but they increase the number of illegal migrants by essentially providing a taxi service, picking them up once they reach UK waters and bringing them ashore. The Navy can hardly blast them out of the water.

    Do we have any boats?

    With engines, I mean.

The people crossing the Channel don't have freedom of movement rights though. They aren't EU citizens. Whether we are in or out of the EU makes no difference to this situation.

We need a private agency to do this work at a fair price to the state, not the Navy. Or perhaps ships provided by charities or NGOs can do this taxi service you refer to like in the Med.

Then they go to the hotels, get housed, clothed and fed and forty pounds a week spending money and have day trips to tour football grounds. What's not to like.

They keep a record on their iphones and send messages back to their friends who want to come here too.

UK of Mercia and Wessex should order coracles from Wales before tariffs increase.

No. You "thought we'd taken back control of our borders" and I am merely pointing out that we do not do so until the 1st January next year.
