I guess that history shows us this is how world wars begin.
I hope the pilot managed to escape.
The pilots ejected.
Funny, I sort of feel we are in a world war type situation already - 21st C style.
I am surprised it has taken so long for something like this to happen. Hopefully they will talk, more jaw less war being the aim.
Hmmm a world war...
Well we have the 'sides' ... Russia with Iran, Iraq government and Syrian government with Hezbollah as a proxy force in Syria and Iraq.
Well, the 'West', Turkey who've invested quite a bit supporting anti-Assad forces only to see Russia destroying those forces, Saudi [who have done similar to Turkey] and possibly Israel [although they won't be too active but Israel would like to see Hezbollah taken out I'm sure]
One reported killed and the other in the hands of rebel forces
I really did gasp out loud when I read this news.
In an unfortunate misread of the autocue the Al-Jazeera newsreader right now reported that "Russian helicopters are currently bombing - sorry combing - the border area"
Can this really be about the Kurds? Can Turkey not see a bigger picture?
Very messy, I think the "West" would have been less timid on military intervention if they'd been able to make their minds up who were the goodies and who the baddies in all of this.
I think Turkey is about to find out.
It's all going swimmingly I see
Oh for heaven's sake!
I already had to take two emergency cats to the vet (do you ever get the feeling that are being judged for not cutting your cat's claws?). And then I had to adjust the straps on a toddler car seat.
And now this!
It's one thing after another.
Perhaps Prince Charles is right. We could try bombing the whole middle east with parachute drops of bottled water. Maybe that will help.
Stop shooting at each other. Stop it. Now.
I see you prefer the Scintillant/Corbyn approach of mediation with IS. Good luck with that.
I do have unusual solutions. One is to resettle the refugees from Syria in Canada. Sorted.
The other is to support the refugees to return and surround each and every fighting faction one by one until they lay down their arms. Support would be armed escorts.
It makes as much sense as drifting into a final apocalypse. No one can win this one.
Latest BBC reports now saying that both were shot, as they parachuted to the ground, by Turkish militia.
