Native American Indian books?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by Nicky Byrne, May 7, 2011.

  1. Can anyone recommend any good texts for teaching about Native American Indians? I've seen a beautiful picture book in the past but can't remember what it was...

Not quite the same but Journey To The River Sea by Eva Ibbotson is about a British girl's journey to the Amazon. Amazon Indians feature prolifically in the novel although aren't any of the lead characters.
  4. Ohh, do Journey to the River Sea - on a totally different topic if you have to!
My Geography teacher did this book with us when I was at Primary School, and I have never forgotten it! It amazed and inspired me, and I have read it so many times since. A a matter of fact, I actually set up my own charity operating in Brazil, and I will be going there for 3 months this summer to teach English!
