Hi sorry about all the 1st lesson threads just got a lot of thoughts/ideas! I was wondering if a name game is really necessary , I want to do an experiment and the name game is going to take up time that I don't really have. I'm getting them to put sticky labels with their names on and apart from the year 7 class they should know each other anyway. Is it bad not to do it with the year 7s? I think without it my lesson might all be a bit too serious but I'm beginning to think I know that's not fashionable but that may be my teaching style!

  2. Don't bother- get them in a seating plan with a copy in front of you. I think by secondary school they should be getting on with the lesson rather than placing ice breakers.
