My Mum doesn't like you...

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by Hedda Gabler, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. I was caught off guard today when a 4 year old girl suddenly said to me My Mum doesn't' t like you.

I wasn't sure what to say and responded Oh dear, is there a problem ?

The reply was Yes she says you are fat !

    I was lost for words!

At 5 ft. 8 ins and size 18 there is some truth in it....

How would you have responded ?

I have had this once or twice from parents disgruntled about something and nothing via their child, I ignored it. People often say things they wouldn't want repeating and children of four have not learnt tact. Don't worry about it - you probably wouldn't like her much either (the mum not the child).

Oh, that happened to me. The child's mother was getting her ready to go home in the cloakroom. I said "Oh?".

Then I just took a little walk.

Later on, on reflection, I laughed a lot.
