    Oh wow!
Best wishes for the start of a new year, new term and a new job.
Don't let the nerves show through. Let the staff see you're approachable but still in charge and you'll be fine.

Watch your door. If it's always shut, that shows you are unapproachable and always busy. Remember teachers are only human and also that new initiatives are not necessarily the best thing since sliced bread!
Oh - and when recruiting, remember older and experienced teachers are just as useful as cheap NQTS.

Is it Primary ACS? I wish you well - just be yourself.

  13. I don't envy you ACS - brave person - but I hope it goes well.
I am sure you'll be fine. Value your staff and make sure they know they are appreciated. I think it's vital for the smooth running of a school. Good luck!

First impressions count - do something utterly bizarre so they remember you forever.
    Good luck.

My advice is to be visible. You say you are teaching a day's timetable so that's a great start. But make your presence felt. Nothing makes life more difficult as a teacher than when the kids aren't afraid of the headteacher and the consequencces of being disciplined by him/her.
