So genetic engineers have combined the DNA of Amy Whitehouse and Paloma Faith and injected it into Adele? I can go with that - catchy number.

I've actually found myself liking music that I don't like - I loathe 1980s synth pop with a vengeance, not least for evicting Punk, but since watching Deutschland '83 this number's become lodged inside my brain:

Well, nobody laughs at REM. They're respectable.

Catchy but monotonus in the end, but aimed at the young impressionable kids market...the intent to say they can shake their bits and so be sexy....one assumes to men?
Or is it a point of pride in women to say they can shake their but sexily?
Really unpopular or old fogy, as my daughter describes it,it to listen for ancient music from the 20's or to Music hall or dance band etc.According to my daughter i belong with the dinosaurs! :)

But your music probably has a certain kind of chic-factor, oldsome.

Nearly everyone disses Meghan. I just think it's catchy.

Last year I saw John Barrowman and Michael Ball in concert and in May will be seeing Aled Jones. I also love Darius Campbell (formerly Danesh of Pop Idol fame) Many of my friends despair and I always go to concerts alone. But I love it. So there!

I could never like the band responsible for that. Confirms the thread title.

I liked pop when it was more respectable to like moaning political dirges. I liked Motown when it would have got me more respect to like PubRock. (I do like it, but apparently you're only allowed to like it to the exclusion of all else.) I liked funk when I should have liked punk. I liked poppy dancy disco and still bounce around the kitchen to it. I still like The Eagles and am gutted I shall never now see them play live. I like songs with tunes. I like Maroon 5 and Snow Patrol, so get stuffed, kids ("Urrgghh MumRock"). I'm not over-fussed for production values - seeing a cine film at my Aunty's (still can't remember how or why) of James Taylor doing Fire And Rain with an acoustic guitar when I was a young teen convinced me that I needed to marry Jesus and quick.

Despised by someone and their Superior Tastes at every turn. Couldn't care less.
