Have you thought about the music to Peter and the Wolf? (Peter is the hero and the wolf is the villain.)
There's some expressive music for each of the characters that would do nicely for dance.
See my resource here if you don't have the music - it has audio clips for each of the characters:
  2. Thank you. I'd forgotten about that. Will go and have a look.
Any sugestions for more modern music anyone?

What about the Nickelback song 'Hero' from 'Spiderman'? Or the 'Smallville' theme, 'Save Me', by Remy Zero.
    Or the 'Ghostbusters' theme. [IMG]

I did something like this in Year 4. I used the James Bond theme (possibly by Moby??????) which worked really well.

Oh and I also used the theme from Mission Impossible - brilliant!
  6. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions.
    To Itunes! (Cue heroic music)

Or use zamzar.com to download Youtube videos as mp3 files. Free!
  8. Can't resist: Bonnie Tyler - I need a hero

Did actually use this with Yr 6 boys for an assembly - hilarious...

Ooh yes! There's the Shrek version, I believe! Our Year 6 boys have done that before now...!
