?Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings.?

    - Robert Burns
  5. What, no Beecham?
"What do you think of Stainer's Crucifixion?" Beecham: "I'm all for it".
To a female cellist in rehearsal: "Madam, you have between your legs an
instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands - and all you can do
    is scratch it"
Upon being asked if he'd ever conducted any Stockhausen: "No, but I once trod in some."

"music is medicine to make you feel better" (a year 3 child)
"singing is exercise for your head" (a reception child)
I love giving them a speech bubble with "music is..." or "singing is..." for them to finish. Instant display material too (unless they finish it with the word "boring")
  7. I have this in my classroom "Without music, life would be a mistake......." Nietzsche
  8. "Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here."
    Dumbledore, I think.
