Music matters text books

Discussion in 'Music' started by lemonthelime, Nov 10, 2011.

  1. Hi
I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what topics are covered in each of the music matters books. I cant seem to find a list on either the heinemann site or amazon.

    Thanks

I cannot say they are the best books in the world. I presume you mean the old sets. They brought out a new volume or volumes.
    Old Book 1
On the way (AABA form, New World, 2 Czech composers)
    Gamelan
    Major and Minor
    Chords
    Voices in layers
    Ragtime/syncopation

    Old Book 2
    Chords I II IV V & VI
    Using chords in songs
    Rondos and recurring structures
    Compound time
Textures and timbres in Japanese music
    Baroque Concerto
    I don't have Book 3

  3. Book 3 looks at Ground Bass, Samba Batucada, and others that escape my mind. They are good for referring too but wouldn't use them all the time.
