moving up the pay scale on part time contract

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by najukhalique, Aug 25, 2011.

  1. Hello everyone. I have a couple of years full time teaching experience, but am interested in part time work for numerous reasons. When working part time, do you still climb up the main pay scale as full time teachers would? and also, what are the chances of crossing threshold as a part time teacher?

    Yes to your first question.
You will go through your Performance Management, whether you are part time or full time. Therefore assuming you have passed your PM's there are no reasons for you not crossing the Threshold

The P/T work needs to be LA employment, not agency work, for pay progression to happen.
You need to have been employed (even on just one day per week) in 26 separate calendar weeks between 1st Sept and 31st August in order to progress up the payscale.
If on an LA contract, you can count paid holiday weeks nad paid sick leave weeks in the 26 required. If paid LA daily / hourly supply rate, you can only count calendar weeks when you spent some time in a school as a teacher.
