Would anyone have advice on my situation? I am currently a Year 2 teacher at an international school in Shanghai but I would like to settle back in the UK. The thing is that I would like to move into teaching Physical Education, is this possible? I have a BA in Primary Education with QTS (I didn't complete an NQT year), have five years of teaching Year 1 and 2, and have experience in coaching. Do I have a chance on my current CV or will I need to complete an MA / PGCE in Physical Education?

Thanks for any help or advice.

If it were maths, or physics, then you might be in with a chance, but unfortunately there's a glut of trained PE teachers on the market. However, I am increasingly seeing primary schools looking to acquire PE specialists, so maybe you'd be better off staying within your own phase.

Another issue, though, is that I understand from your posts that you've been in Shanghai for the past five years? In which case, you'll be coming back to this country and needing to secure a permanent post straight off, as you won't be allowed to get back into the system through casual supply. So you've got to be able to convince a headteacher that you have up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum, etc. Not impossible, but not easy. Consult @TheoGriff over on Jobseekers on this.

Thanks, John. I was actually looking through the other posts and have seen a similar answer. I was about to post that I had figured it out. I guess its possible but improbable.

    Thanks again
