I listen to Classic FM a lot, and there's a particularly irritating advertisement that is broadcast regularly, the lyrics of which are sung with fervour by a man and woman, alternating lines, and go like this:

"Constipation relief has me singing with glee
Strutting my stuff for the whole world to see
Senacot Max helps me feel free
    Natural senna, double strength
    Brings me back to normality..."

by which time I've managed to turn the radio off, so I don't think I've ever heard the rest of it. However, it creates THe most persistent earworm imaginable.

    What's your most irritating ad?

The one on the BBC with the busy mum and the teenager who meet in the amusement arcade. Goes on interminably and leaves me baffled and resentful at the end because I want the programme I tuned in to watch to begin.

I only needed to read the thread title to think of that awful Classic FM advert... It’s SO irritating! I usually only listen to the first line - that woman’s voice is enough to have me reaching for the off-button. The little bit I do hear reminds me of my elderly cat who, after every visit outside, comes in at the gallop, miaowing loudly to celebrate the fact she’s been!

I don't know if it's the same one but there's an advert on Absolute Radio for sennakot. It's quite a young voice and I always think 'If you need Sennakot at your age you've got problems. Sort your diet out!'.

According to the people who made the trailer, who were interviewed on breakfast TV, it’s designed to show us how we should focus on our loved ones at Christmas. Life is so busy yada yada.......

First time I watched it I thought the TV had mysteriously changed channel and I had to check it was still n BBC. Left us both wondering why they had put it on. It made no sense to us.

Yeah. I understand that if you want to sell soap powder or whatever you will spend time and money putting together an advert to boost your sales. The BBC advert must have incurred a cost and it is not going to boost any sales. It is not even advertising a future programme. If they have spare cash as is evidenced by this, why not put the money towards improving their output? In my opinion it is irritating and pointless though I expect someone or other will be along soon to defend it.
