Mortgage early repayment fees question.

I would like to change my current mortgage provider. I have 2 years to go on current mortgage deal with HBOS. The early repayment fees are nearly £2k. If I remortgage with another lender, does the £2k get added onto the loan amount or do I have to pay HBOS the £2k (in cash) for escaping from them?
    Any advice welcome.
    Thank you.
