We have just been evaluating our early reading books and feel we need to add to what we've got. The aim is to use books that support/practise synthetic phonics until we can move children on to our other scheme books (around book band 5 we think). Some children get there with the books we have, but others need more practice at the cvc stage. We have also found that we could do with some books to enable practice with vowel digraphs progressively, rather than have all digraphs representing a phoneme in the same text: we think the ORT books jump too quickly. We have: Jelly and Bean, Songbirds, Floppy's Phonics and Read Write Inc. Has anybody any particular recommendations that might help to supplement what we are using? Thanks.
