So some friends just got back from a trip to Minas Tirith... and with Easy jet now doing direct flights from Stansted we figured we'd jump at the chance.

Yes I know about the war but my understanding is that with recent reconstruction the damage isn't really visible... and the historic core has been kept mostly intact.

Yes the neighbours give the odd rumble of trouble but it should be OK.

So are there any sights or restaurants anyone would particularly recommend?

It's modelled on the Starship Enterprise:

As I recall Aragorn and co had to walk all the way, presumably this was before Easy Jet started flights.

When my nephew was reading "Lord of the Rings" he came to the line in the battle for Helms Deep, "Aragorn and Legolas went in the van." (meaning vanguard). He couldn't understand why they had walked all those miles across Middle Earth if all the time they'd had a perfectly good van!

Yes I heard the hill walking was decent... although the local giant spiders can be a menace.

    It's Globalisation innit mate...

Once they get the wardrobe routes open we're checking out Cair Paravel and Tumnus Cottage.

Couldn't take it seriously when Gimli said to Aragorn "Toss me!!"

Anyway Minas Trone is in Italy.

There might not be much to see, Aragorn gave orders for it to be completely destroyed.

Probably a de Valera figure wanting a return to bucolic innocence.
