Will he survive if another council decides to go down the route of postponing CFE exams?
  2. Hope not!

Unlikely to happen - The government and the Inspectors have got out the big stick to keep other "rogue" authorities in line.
You can't blame East Ren for what they have done, Intermediates are available to sit for another year or so so why would you want to tear somthing up that works for something we haven't yet seen.
It has been approved by their councillors so the govt cannot now intervene, but other authorities have been reminded they will be toeing the party line. The Junior (S1-3) and Senior phases must be implemented as it's a key part of CFE.
Mind you its the first I heard that CFE had any key parts. it's all bullsh*t and total dumbing down.
  4. Was reading somewhere about what would be the reaction of Education Scotland should anyone else step out of line. Never have I seen the word "support" used more threateningly. If you don't adopt the 3+3 model, you'll be supported all the way to the firing squad. The Downfall clips on YouTube weren't that much of a parody after all.
  5. 3+3 = raising the leaving age to 18 to make the NEET figures go away.
  6. Russell, Russell, Russell - out, out, out!

Sadly, it'll no happen - big Eck is far too enamoured with him to gie him the boot.

For a former media person, he is somewhat reticent to be grilled on any CfE question.
My frustration is that CfE was implemeted and introduced badly and that is his fault. On the other hand, having schools in East Ren cling to the first past the post league-table polishing old school system isn't helping ANY evolution in Scottish education. With their catchment these are the schools that couls have made a brave new world in Scottish schools possible and Russell fudged it with them.
Quite apart from that, though, he simply doesn't have knowledge of his office.

  9. No change there then- Russell models himself on Nelson, puts telescope to wrong eye and claims you can't break an omelette without breaking eggs... and it was the naughty teachers who broke the eggs anyway!
  10. He has the most unfortunate bearing and demeanour of anyone who appears on TV. Does anyone else agree that he looks like the class clown when caught unawares and then tries to re-arrange his features into a sort of serious look once he realises he's on TV.
