MFL - no longer compulsory?

Someone at my school told me recently that MFL is no longer compulsory. Main reason given that Secondary school MFL teachers say the have more success when children start from scratch at high school rather than receiving children from Primary schools who have not been taught it properly. Does anyone know if this is true? As far as I knew it had only just become compulsory!!!
  2. As far as I know there has never been a statutory requirement to teach any MFL at primary.
  3. MFL KS1 and 2 is not statutory according to QCDA website.

It was 'entitlement' & was due to be made cstatutory under the last Labour government, but the new govt. has not ratified this (along with the 'Right To Cook' initiative) so remains as 'entitlement', which could be very open to interpretation by Heads.
