  1. My school merged with the school next door last September. The head and the FS1 leader are new but the rest of the SLT came from one of the merging schools. The past two terms have been a lot of work - the swan syndrome where all appears calm but so much is going on beneath the surface. Staff opinions about the merger are split but most of the staff who were in the school with the current SLT are content those from the other school are not. In simple terms, after two terms, adding one outstanding school to another outstanding school equals one satisfactory school. In normal circumstances it would be easy to argue that things will improve with time but the new school only has a two year life expectancy, it will close in 2012. All very depressing really. I sincerely hope your experience has a more positive conclusion.
