Maths question from the practice QTS skills test...

    Wow, can I have some of whatever you are on?

    So you are saying that a quarter of 3 quarters will be a third? Well it will be a third of the written test but it will only be 3/16th of the toatl matks!

    My explanation was NOT correct! I was showing how someone could come up with the given answer!

    Imagine your cake cut into 16 equal pieces.
    3/4 of the slices represent the written paper - so 12 slices. (the other 4/16 {= 1/4} slices are the coursework)
    Of these 12 slices 1/4 represent the mental test.
    1/4 of 12 is 3
    So 3 of the 16 slices are the mental test.....3/16
