maths obs - anywhere where I can find a set of mathematical statements?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by chocolate_cupcake, Apr 8, 2011.

  1. Hello all,
I know we have just broken up for Easter but I have a maths obs after the holidays which I have to get done this weekend as I'm going abroad early next week so won't have any time to get it done otherwise.
We set for maths and I teach more able year 5. I am going to do a lesson on proving/disproving statements. The focus is on gifted on talented, and because I have some very able children (some nearing level 6 already!) I am going to do a guided session with them (after the input) on proving Pythagoras' theorem (we are doing Ancient Greece too so this will be a good Greek link!).
I was going to get the rest of the class (levels ranging from 4C - 4A) to prove/disprove mathematical statements (e.g. Prime numbers only have 2 factors). I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere where I could get some good ones?
    Thanks :)
