    Hello,

I am running a project across preschool, nursery and reception at my school with aims of raising attainment in mathematical recording in EYFS.

I was wondering what everyone else does to encourage children to record their maths/represent numbers in different ways. I am especially interested in finding out more about 2-3 year olds and how they can develop their recording.

    Thank you!

Are you thinking about 'recording' in terms of supporting children's mathematical thinking? Have you come across the work of Elizabeth Carruthers and Maulfry Worthington on mathematical graphics?
It would be a good place to start, because surely you want to improve mathematical understanding rather than just recording?

Thank you yes I am! I have come across these. They make an interesting read don't they.

We are going down a problem solving route of developing recording as well! How do you find getting the children to record to work things out in EYFS?
