Maternity pay during the summer holidays

Discussion in 'Parenting' started by mixedupchameleon, Aug 24, 2011.

  1. I am a teacher doing a bit of planning ahead and wondering (if my due date was in August) whether I would have to include the summer holidays as part of my maternity leave? Thanks
  2. You can start your maternity leave on your due date but no later. If your baby is born before your due date, your maternity leave automatically starts. So in theory you could be paid for some of the holidays!
  3. My baby was due end July last year and we finish end of June here in NI - I worked up to the end of term to ensure that I was given full pay up until due date. I put the start of mat leave as my due date. I panicked towards the end of term though and thought I was going to have to start it early as I was knackered but I managed to stick it out.
