Maternity leave starting in June and possible redundancy in August...???

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by froggy29400, Feb 15, 2011.

  1. Hi
My baby is due in July so I'm anticipating going on maternity leave at the end of June. We have been advised of redundancy procedures being in place with "all staff reductions made no later than August 31st". Will this affect my additional maternity pay?
Also could my Head be very cunning and decide to make my post redundant just before I'm due to start my maternity leave or should all redundancies happen at the same time? (about 10 posts being made redundant).
Another question: I am currently full time and could volunteer for a reduction in hours when I return after my maternity leave, would this affect my additional maternity pay? Would I have to pay some back?
So many questions and quite a lot of stress :-(

    Thanks in advance!

What ever advice you receive on here, you should discuss this with your Union at the Regional Centre Level/or Local Secretary. We assume the Unions will already be involved with the school over the redundancies.
  3. My union told me you cannot be made redudent whilst on mat leave.. so I would contact them ASAP

I was told I would have far greater legal protection - tahn in my situation -where they are just 'removing my job' but hey thats a whole other thread!
