Maternity leave on CV

I am applying for jobs having relocated during my maternity leave.

I started at my previous school in August 2016 and went on mat leave the following July. Although I have been employed by them technically until July 2018, I wasn't in school last academic year.

So my question is do I write this on my cv as

    August 2016 - July 2017 xxx School
August 2016 - July 2018 xxx School (on Maternity leave since July 2017).

    Thanks in advance!

Have you already resigned? If not, you are still employed by them so your CV should reflect this - August 2016 to present (currently on maternity leave). As you don't have to specify a return date I would leave this open. If you are applying for jobs starting in September, this shows you are available to start then.
