maternity leave 31st august

  1. I'm sorry if this has been asked already.
    I'm due 20th September but Im on a fixed term contract until 31st August. Is it possible to start maternity leave on 31st August and if i gave a date after that (should they consider renewing) am i likely to lose maternity pay/rights?

  2. Our oldest was due 13th Sept (was actually born on the 20th- good day for a birthday :) ) so I started my maternity leave last day of August and got paid for all the summer holidays (fortunately they didn't insist I worked that day as it was technically an Inset! ) so I don't see any problem with it.
