Maluka honey -elixir for ailments?

    I thought it was Ma<u>n</u>uka honey?!
    Sorry, no personal experiences to offer, but my mum swears by the stuff!

    Ooh, you may find it's cheaper in the supermarket. H&B tend to be fairly pricey.

    Have just checked Tesco online for you. It's about a tenner a jar in there.

Manuka honey has been found to be moderately effective (i.e. don't even bother comparing it with a standard antibiotic from a pharmaceutical company) against S. aureus when compared with other honeys. Its composition beyond that is fructose, glucose and water, none of which has any particular health-giving qualities besides calories.
    If you have reason to believe that your complaint is derived from an infection with S.aureus, then knock yourself out. Otherwise consult a GP.
