making cupcakes - do you need to grease the tin if using paper cases?

Discussion in 'Cookery' started by Frances1985, Dec 18, 2011.

  1. Hello all,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I normally bake big cakes or tray bakes where you always grease the tin. If you are making cupcakes and lining a muffin/bun tin with paper cases, do you need to grease the muffin/bun tin before putting the paper cases in it? Have tried Googling this and some recipes say to grease it while others say just to put the paper cases in the tin.

I don't want the paper cases to stick, but at the same time I don't want them coming out really greasy.

    What would you do?

No. Just put the paper cases in the tin.
As you say, you don't want the outside of your cases to come out greasy.
  3. Definitely not! Just bung the cases in the holes and the mix in the cases..... they will come out fine!
  4. Thank you, they came out beautifully! :)
