Major Changes in Education in the Last Five Years

Discussion in 'Primary' started by jampot12, Aug 31, 2012.

  1. Hello everyone,
I am giving a presentation on Tuesday to a group of foreign teachers. I have been asked to talk about major changes in education in the last 5 years.
Would anyone be able to give me some advice on topics? Academies is one area that I am going to talk about but I would be grateful for any other suggestions.
    Many thanks

    James

    In the system at large:
    • National Curriculum turmoil
    • Prescriptive government interference, e.g. synthetic phonics
    • Free schools & academies, and route to privatisation
    • Exam fiascos
    • Increased focus on English & Maths attainment
    • Ofsted move to focus only on attainment not progress
    In the average classroom:
    • Not a lot [IMG]

  3. Govt. trying to offload PRUs.

  4. Thanks everyone. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
