Black pudding is one, apparently. Happy days.
I've been eating that since I was five. Now I grant you I'm still alive but I sure aren't super.
Bunk. There are foods and there are other foods. "Superfood" is just hype, described by that "b" work that rhymes with rowlocks.
I know that! However, any excuse to eat back pudding is fine with me.
Bleurgh! And apparently they do not even use "fresh" pigs blood from UK slaughterhouses, but dried pigs blood from foreign parts with potential dodgy provenence. Disgusting and potentially dangerous.
Fresh is a strange word in this context, isn't it? It's a bit like the fresh bleach you can buy. What's that all about?
Why? In the old days the blood was collected straight out of the slit throat of the pig and kept stirred to prevent clotting then immediately processed with the rest of the vile gunge (like blobs of fat) that go in the recipe (hurl!). How could that not be classed as fresh? And how could dried blood be classed as fresh? I see no contradiction.
Black pudding is a delight and highly nutritious.
Black pudding with fried egg! Love it.
Daughter #1 has inherited my fondness for black pudding. Nom nom nom.
Black pudding and scallops with a poached egg!!!
Or with crispy bacon and roast tomatoes.....drool!!!
I'm glad that I'm not the only fan.
To be fair I think it's more the seasoning than the actual pig's blood that makes them so tasty. Oh, and that little crunch of oatmeal for texture.
I have just read this thread and am now feeling nauseous. I don't think I could ever eat even a mouthful of this stuff to save my life. Aaaargh!
I was brought up on that stuff, black pudding, *******, etc. did not like it then and now I have a choice still don't like it and there is nothing super about it.
What! I am not allowed to say fag Gots
Savoury ducks. Where I come from.
When I worked in an Abattoir/Meat Processor factory we called those concoctions Savoury Ducks as well. Delicious!
Can't believe how precious some people are about which parts of a dead animal's body they will or won't consider!
Can't see what's precious about it. I eat hardly any meat at all and I make no apology for that. I'm not saying that other people shouldn't and I'm glad if they enjoy it.
