one can no longer lurk
In what sense @snowstorm ?
Well you can
But if my reading is correct the moderators and certain other members of the community can see what you are doing.
Whether they can identify you is another matter and one of which I have no definite knowledge
Just don't log in if you want to lurk. Or am I missing something?
You can lurk if you don't show your online status. Uncheck the box in the drop down menu from your avatar on the top right of the screen.
Also check your settings in Preferences in the same drop down menu.
That only prevents other standard users of the site from noting your presence or observing your activities.
It is useful for that purpose but, as is common for all sites, more information is (probably) available to non-standard/advanced users of the site.
So the OP wants to be logged in but invisible to admins? Is there any site that will let you do that? And I don't get why you would need that.
I'm obviously not a non-standard or advanced user of the site then as I can't see a dot in your avatar picture to show you're online and nothing on your pop up to show recent activity.
As a matter of interest @Didactylos4 - can you see my recent activity on my pop up? I can when I view it, but I wondered if that was because I'm looking at my own profile.
I always assumed Admin would be able to see when you are online, whatever options you had unchecked.
Not that I am aware of
Neither do I
I was merely expressing the facts as I know them
Not at all Marlin
I am a standard user
Can you see what visitors are doing? @marlin
I'm not sure she was saying that. I think she has not posted much(or at all) since NewTES and has probably just noticed that you can see who is signed in.
I can see this page.
Ah. It all sounded mysterious but that makes sense.
Where is that @marlin?
I can't @marlin
I know my place
@snowstorm : welcome back. Where have you been?
We did have a discussion before about the fact that this page was not visible to all. I click on Members Online Now on the right of the screen. I think it becomes available when you have a signature - but I'm not sure.
I does, I didn't have it before but do now.
