    Windsor Castle (nearly London) and Hampton Court Palace are both worth a visit. The Tower of London looks like a proper castle.

    All have good websites if you can't actually visit.

    If you are doing kings and queens, then finding out all the castles where various ones have been imprisoned and/or beheaded is always exciting...especially for the boys. And palaces, that took over as royal homes from castles in more peaceful times is always cool for girls. (And yes I am stereotyping, but hey ho!)
