London 2012 - The Olymoics

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by butterbeer, May 26, 2011.

  1. Visit the Get Set for 2012 website. There are lots of good ideas which are based around the Olympic values. There is also a lovely animation based on the two mascots. We did this recently and we really focussed on the values aspect and how they related to the children. There are some lovely videos of the athletes who are Olympians or Paralympians and they really lend themselves to a real life application of courage and other values. I am in Year 2, but Year 1 did this and found it worked well, so I would think it would be accessible for reception children too, as the videos bring their efforts to life.
We have become a Get Set school and have been chosen as school of the month, which means we will be getting a visit from an Olympic athlete.
