Literacy - Letters and Authors Year 3

Discussion in 'English' started by lauren2224, Mar 10, 2012.

  1. Hi,

Im just about to start teaching the literacy unit Letters and Authors and am really unsure on which author to use! The problem is children need to be able to read some on books independently and so they need to be relatively short. I like the idea of using Julia Donaldson, however there needs to be a long text from the author that is read to them throughout the unit!

    Please help!!
  2. Allan Alhberg is a great author to use. He has a great range of books then look at the Jolly Postman. The Gaskitts books of his are brilliant! Read these as a class book. Children love these! Hope that helps.
  3. I find Roald Dahl is still a good one to use, even though his books are supposed to be better suited to year 4 and upwards the BFG always seems to appeal
