I have a friend who works at a school in Libya. I can't tell you the particulars of how it is for families, but he seems happy enough as a single person. I don't think there is much to do ( he has joined the Archaelogical Society - I think that is the height of excitement ) but it seems pleasant enough.
A couple of things to be aware of though:
Once you obtain a work and residence permit ( which can take while ) you will need permission before you can exit or enter the country in future.
His apartment seems to have the standard facilities: bathroom, bedroom, intermittent internet and cockroaches. Lots of cockroaches.
Food is cheap and plentiful however.
