Does anybody know the new protocol on lesson observations?
'Conducting school Inspections' is the document you need, which is available from the Ofsted website. In primaries, generally all classes get seen, often at least twice. Children are heard reading in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Feedback is offered if teachers are observed for more than 25 minutes. Joint lesson observations are offered to headteachers, and generally one or two take place.
In secondaries, inspectors will generally see around 50% of teachers. Again, observations longer than 25 minutes will be offered feedback, generally at the end of the day.
