Hi, I'd like to learn to speak Portuguese, more than the usual stock phrases of obrigada, bom dia and such like. Is there an on-line course you would recommend? There is nothing on at our local night-class college and I have been thinking of doing this for a number of years. We are having a big celebration this year and part of it is a return holiday to our favourite Algarvian village, so I think now is the time for me to get on to it at last!
    Thanks in advance,

    Please, even if it's a "No" !

  3. I studied (self taught) for a GCSE in Portuguese a couple of years back and used mainly the Teach Yourself book and CD course. I didn't really find much online that I liked. However, www.bbc.co.uk/languages does have a section for Portuguese which is quite useful and I used that from time time. I also found using a dictionary, verb book and reading various texts online helped. I am a teacher of French and Spanish, so my knowledge of Spanish did help considerably.
Perhaps you could investigate learning via Skype or something like that.
I hope that this helps in some way.
    Boa sorte!
