Leadership query

Discussion in 'Workplace dilemmas' started by samtheman, Jun 23, 2015.

  1. If a member of SLT steps down and reverts to being a class teacher (no longer SLT) does his/ her leadership post need to be advertised externally? What are the legal requirements regarding the appointment of a replacement -- not a person, just a role?!

Also once on SLT, can a person be asked to relinquish their role?

Your thoughts on both these matters please!

No. None. He/She can be asked, but not required

  3. Thank you - as I thought. What about if a "new" post was created slightly below the original post , the original post holder "steps down" and the "new" post holder is automatically made up?!

Not what you want to hear, but it's perfectly legal. Whether it's open, transparent or fair is another matter, but not one worth pursuing.
