    At Butterfly World Project we are focusing on educating everyone who visits us about the decline of native butterfly species and what we can do to attempt to reverse it. It is anticipated that 40% of visitors to the Biome, once completed, will be children and we are determined to do all that we can to encourage them to understand the butterfly species and what can be done to preserve it.
    We are very fortunate to have a dedicated teaching area The Insect Study Centre, generously sponsored by The Royal Entomological Society. We are using this centre to encourage schools to bring children during term time to learn about:
    - the lifecycle of the butterfly
    - how to study insects
    Our education programme consists of a 45 minute teaching session about the lifecycle of a butterfly, handling different insects in our Study Centre and a visit to our Leaf-cutter Ant colonies within Ant World. The full lifecycle of the butterfly can then be seen in action within our Tropical Butterfly House, where children are encouraged to hunt out eggs, spot pupae, and search for giant caterpillars. Following the lessons, our other attractions can be enjoyed, including the Theatre of Insects Garden and the Flowerpot Garden where you can have some space for circle time, an activity or story session. There are plenty of picnic areas available around the site, and the Nectar House Cafe will be pleased to provide a packed lunch if you so request at the time of booking.
    After lunch there will be time for the children to let off steam in our wonderful Natural Play Area which includes a unique climbing frame, sand pits, slides and an exciting willow tunnel - not to mention a giant ant to keep the children company!
