Last Selective Senior Secondary in Scotland

Discussion in 'Scotland - education news' started by gcb5, Sep 1, 2017.

  1. Does anyone know the final senior secondary school in Scotland to end selection and become comprehensive? I would think it happened in the 1970s but it may not have been until the 80s; the last grammar to go comprehensive in Wales was in 1988.

The last one I am aware of was Paisley Grammar School in 1968 (from memory). Then again, I was 18 then so could be wrong!

I am sure when I entered teaching in 1971 all schools in Scotland were comprehensive unless privately run.
