last induction term

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by yorkyshef, Dec 8, 2011.

  1. Hi,
I completed 2 successful full-time terms of inductions last year and I have since been doing very few supply. I am working 3 days as in my past-career in engineering, It is good money and it pays my bills BUT I want to teach and I cannot secure a job as there are very few now till next year 2012. so my question is this, How long can I wait or be off teaching to do my 3rd term of induction? What is the rule for finalising the Induction year? Thank you for any reply.

Your terms are banked leaving you the one term to complete. There is no current time restriction on NQTs beyond the supply rule which limits the amount of non induction supply work to 16 months. However there are changes going ahead next year to induction that will give a flat 5 year period to complete induction post QTS. The draft guidance seemed to indicate this would apply to any teacher who had yet to complete induction.
